coffee roaster
Coffee roasters control gas fired roasters to dry coffee beans. They dump coffee beans into roasting ovens and once roasted, they compare colour of roasting beans against specifications. They perform cooling of the beans by operating mechanical blowers.
About coffee roaster
As a coffee roaster, you will operate specialized roasting equipment to transform raw coffee beans into the finished product that consumers enjoy. Your day-to-day responsibilities include loading beans into gas-fired roasters, carefully monitoring temperature and roasting time, and comparing the color of roasting beans against detailed specifications to ensure consistent quality. You will operate mechanical cooling systems to bring roasted beans to the proper temperature, collect samples for quality analysis, and maintain detailed records of roasting parameters. Your work is crucial to the coffee industry because proper roasting directly impacts flavor, aroma, and overall quality of the final product. As coffee consumption continues to grow globally, skilled roasters are increasingly valued, particularly in specialty coffee markets across Poland and Europe.
Your role requires a strong technical understanding of heat treatment processes, food safety standards like HACCP and GMP, and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment. You will stand for extended periods, handle hot equipment, manage strong odors, and lift heavy sacks of beans regularly. Attention to detail is essential—even slight variations in temperature or timing can affect batch quality. Many roasters work in craft coffee roasteries, larger commercial operations, or as part of food production facilities. With experience, you could advance to lead roaster, roastery manager, or quality control supervisor positions.
